Description
Hi-Vidomin Nutritional Immune Multi provided by Douglas Laboratories®, is a patent-pending combination of key nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other necessary ingredients including resveratrol, N-acetyl L-cysteine and curcumin to support optimal immune health.
Functions
Currently, there is great interest in maintaining optimal immune health as avian populations continue their migratory patterns. The ingredients in this product are designed to provide support to the immune and antioxidant systems, as well as provide essential amounts of vitamins and minerals needed for well being. Studies show that a high percentage of adults and children in North America and other developed countries eat less than the minimum daily allowance of 10 or more essential nutrients. Adequate amounts and proper balance of these nutrients are needed for maintaining good health. If optimal amounts of vitamins and minerals and antioxidants are not consumed on a regular basis proper immune healthy may not be maintained. Studies indicate that under certain conditions the overproduction of free radicals can have negative effects on cells. Imbalances between antioxidant protection and free radical formation may lead to alterations in redox status and may not allow for the proper functioning of the immune system. Healthy immune function can also be maintained by supporting a well balanced production of cytokines. The ingredients present in this formulation work together to help maintain healthy cellular redox status, proper inflammatory status, and ultimately support immune health. Selenium, and N-Acetyl L-Cysteine play important roles in maintaining optimal nutritional status and immune function, especially as it relates to their role in glutathione metabolism and cellular redox status. N-acetyl L-cysteine is a precursor of the tripeptide glutathione which is the major intracellular antioxidant and a component of two antioxidant enzymes, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase. These enzymes help to effectively maintain proper redox balance. Further studies indicate that the concentration of N-Acetyl L-Cysteine itself may play important roles in maintaining normal cytokine production. Resveratrol is a naturally occurring plant polyphenol commonly found in grape vines and skins. Recent studies demonstrate that it can help maintain normal oxidative and inflammatory responses in human and animal cells. Unlike other multivitamin formulations Hi-Vidomin Nutritional Immune Multi provides 150 mg of resveratrol per serving. Quercetin, a water soluble bioflavonoid commonly found in many plants has also demonstrated an ability to support normal antioxidant and inflammatory processes. Studies have shown that curcumin, a naturally occurring biologically active group of compounds from Curcuma longa (Turmeric), can function as efficient antioxidants and can help regulate the body’s normal response to inflammatory processes, as well as support normal cytokine production. Curcumin may also help support glutathione production.
