It relieves the symptoms such as feeling of anxiety, feeling of tension and feeling irritated by stabilizing mental status, and it induces sleep. It is usually used for sedative and hypnotic effects on schizophrenia, senile psychosis, mania, depression or depressive state and neurosis. Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist •If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines. If you have brain disorders (encephalitis, brain tumor, aftereffects following head injury, etc.). •If you are pregnant or breastfeeding. •If you are taking any other medicinal products. Possible adverse reactions to this medicine The most commonly reported adverse reactions include nasal congestion, parkinsonian syndrome [finger shivering (tremor in hands), muscle rigidity (muscle stiffness)], dry mouth, constipation, malaise, rash and photosensitivity (exaggerated sunburn caused by sunlight, itch, pigmentation). If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist. The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately. •muscle stiffness, increased pulse, fever [syndrome malin (neuroleptic malignant syndrome)] •dizziness, palpitation, shortness of breath [sudden death, ventricular tachycardia] •palpitation and/or shortness of breath, yellowness in skin or in the white of eyes, nose and/or gum bleeding, fever, pain in throat [aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, decreased white blood cells] •constipation, feeling of fullness in abdomen, severe pain in abdomen [paralytic ileus] •moving a tongue and sliding it in and out of a mouth, movement of a mouth like chewing continuously, body movement against one's will [tardive dyskinesia, tardive dystonia] The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine.
