2009年8月3日，美国食品药品管理局（FDA）对外宣布批准他汀类降血脂新药匹伐他汀（pitavastatin，力清之，Livalo）上市。本次获准的匹伐他汀规格为 高剂量4mg。
美国FDA批准4毫克最大剂量的匹伐他汀（pitavastatin；Livalo）用于胆固醇水平异常或者过高患者的治疗。类似于其他他汀类药物，本品用于对饮食和运动无效的胆固醇水平异常的患者，他汀类药物属羟甲戊二酰辅酶A还原酶抑制剂(HMG-CoA)，是治疗高胆固醇血症的首选药。HMG-CoA对羟甲戊二酰辅酶A还原酶有高度而专一的竞争性抑制，抑制肝脏合成胆固醇(CH)，使低密度脂蛋白胆固醇受体合成增加，促使降解而降低脂血浓度；另外大剂量尚可降低血清TG水平。
匹伐他汀属第3代 HMG-CoA，主要用于饮食和锻炼控制无效的高血脂患者，是能最有效地降低低密度脂蛋白胆固醇(LDL-C)水平，并升高高密度脂蛋白胆固醇(HDL- C)水平的药物之一。
制药机构称：日本和欧洲的临床研究数据提示，Livalo对LDL-C、甘油三酯和HDL-C水平的调节作用较同类药物中的其他化合物好。
FDA表示：Livalo获批是基于5个与已上市的其它3个他汀类药物在安全性和疗效临床比较研究的结果。临床研究显示：本品最常见的不良反应为肌肉痛、背痛、关节痛和便秘。

Livalo由位于美国阿拉巴马州蒙哥马利Kowa制药美国公司生产。

该药将有3种剂量规格(1 mg，2 mg及4 mg)。

This drug is a cholesterol-lowering medication that belongs to the statin class of drugs. It is currently one of the highest potency statin drugs available.

Livalo Directions

This drug may be taken with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider. Livalo Cautions

The following people should not take Livalo:
-Those who have had an allergic reaction to Livalo or any of its components.

-Individuals who have active liver disease or have abnormal liver enzyme levels.
-People who have a history of alcohol abuse.

The most common side effects include back pain, pain in extremities, myalgia, liver enzyme abnormalities, headache, and gastrointestinal problems (such as constipation or diarrhea).

-Myopathy - suggested by progressive muscle soreness or weakness
