Pharmacological Action
Antitussive Agents  - Agents that suppress cough.
They act centrally on the medullary cough center. EXPECTORANTS, also used in the treatment of cough, act locally.

Astomin特点
本品镇咳效果略优于右美沙芬，约为可待因的2倍，但毒性更低，反复应用不会成瘾，安全性较大。
本品抑制延脑咳嗽中枢，为非成瘾性中枢镇咳嗽药。服用后迅速见效，且持续时间长，亦不会引起便秘。
药效药理
1、镇咳作用
本品对延脑咳嗽中枢直接作用，对犬、猫和豚鼠的药理试验研究表明本品比可待因和右美沙芬的镇咳效果更好。
2、无成瘾性
对猴子给药本品一个月研究其依赖性，研究表明对本品无身体、精神依赖性，证明无成瘾性。
3、对肠道的抑制作用
以小鼠进行试验研究，以磷酸可待因进行剂量对照，结果表明对肠道无抑制作用，不会导致便秘。
药代动力学
健康成年男性口服给药本品90mg，迅速吸收1至2小时，达到最大血药浓度0.007〜0.008μg/ml。
健康的成年男性禁食12小时， 口服给药本品30mg，24小时后尿中排泄率约60%。鉴定尿液中代谢产物发现3种氧化烷基化反应产物，少于2%以原形排出。
获批准本品用法中，14岁以下儿童，每日剂量最大剂量14ml（磷酸二甲啡烷35mg）。
临床应用简述
研究表明本品对婴幼儿和儿童伴随咳嗽的急性呼吸系统疾病的临床有效率为81.0%（260/321）。此外，给药本品前后的咳嗽频率与对照组比较的记录分析结果也证明了本品的有效性。
与同类产品比较优势
可待因，中枢性成瘾性镇咳药，对一切原因引起的咳嗽都有一定的止咳效果，适用于癌症、急性肺梗塞、左心衰竭伴有咳嗽，或痰液不多而又频繁发作的刺激性干咳，以防剧烈咳嗽导致合并症。但不能长期服用，否则可成瘾，也可产生耐受性，止咳作用逐渐减弱甚至消失，有的人会引起便秘。另外可待因可以抑制呼吸道腺体分泌和纤毛运动，不利于排痰。痰多的人使用可待因止咳，使大量痰液阻塞呼吸道，容易继发感染而使病情加重。
右美沙芬，中枢非依赖性镇咳药，是目前临床上应用最广的非依赖性镇咳品种。右美沙芬的镇咳效果可与中枢依赖性镇咳药可待因相媲美，在镇咳剂量下对呼吸系统无抑制作用，不会产生成瘾性，无镇痛和催眠的不良反应等特点，而被世界卫生组织推荐为可替代可待因的一种镇咳药。
而本品亦属于非成瘾性中枢镇咳嗽药，在具备右美沙芬无成瘾性、毒性作用小等优点的前提下，镇咳效果更优于右美沙芬，约为可待因的2倍。

Effects of this medicine
This medicine acts directly on the cough center in the brain and thus suppresses coughing.
It is usually used for the treatment of cough associated with respiratory disease such as upper respiratory inflammation or pneumonia.
Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist
•If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
•If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
•If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)
•Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is <<        to be written by a healthcare professional>>
•General dosage regimen: For adults (aged 15 years and older), take 1 to 2 tablet/s (10 to 20mg of the active ingredient) at a time, three times daily. The dose may be adjusted according to your age and symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.
•If you have missed a dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. If you have a bad cough, consult with your doctor/pharmacist. DO NOT take double doses to make up for the missed dose.
•If you took too much of the medicine (more than ordered), check with your doctor/pharmacist.
•Do not stop taking the medicine without the instructions of your doctor.
Precautions while taking this medicine

Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: rash, dizziness, sleepiness, headache/heaviness of the head, dry mouth, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc.
