Tarka Information

Tarka is a well known drug that belongs to a wide class of medicines that are known as calcium channel blockers. Such drugs are known to effectively widen and relax the patient’s blood vessels (arteries and veins), making it easier for the patient’s heart to pump by reducing its initial workload.

Tarka Indications

Tarka is a popular drug that is generally prescribed in the treatment of patients who are suffering from hypertension. However, this drug could also serve some other purposes (like prevent or treat some other medical conditions) that have not been mentioned here. Ask your personal health care provider for more information.

Tarka Warnings

You should not stop your treatment with this drug without your personal physician’s approval, as this could have severe effects (it could worsen your initial medical condition). During your intake of this medicine you should avoid performing any sort of activity that is known to require either physical or mental awareness (alertness), as Tarka is known to usually trigger drowsiness and / or dizziness. This is why patients who are currently taking this medicine should avoid driving, operating machinery and should employ extra care when rising from a lying or from a sitting position. Patients who are taking Tarka on a regular basis should not consume any products that are known to contain alcohol (this includes beverages and even some medicines like cough syrups). Ask your personal physician for more information regarding this matter.

You should know that vomiting, heavy sweating, diarrhea, and so on could trigger low blood pressure, fainting, dizziness and some other symptoms, especially in the case of patients who are following a treatment with Tarka. While you are using this medicine you should drink plenty of fluids in order to prevent an unwanted dehydration.

Some medical disorders are known to sometimes harmfully interfere with a treatment with this medicine. For example, patients who are suffering from any of the medical conditions that are listed below might not be allowed to start taking Tarka or should be given lower doses of this product (it is very important that you should inform your personal health care specialist if you are suffering from any of these diseases, as, if you do, your treatment with this medicine should be closely monitored):

  • liver disorders;
  • Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, sick sinus syndrome, aortic stenosis, Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome, heart block, congestive heart failure, or low blood pressure;

You should know that Tarka is a category D FDA pregnancy medicine. Therefore, it has been made clear that intake of this medicine during pregnancy could trigger some severe birth defects and complications, as it does harm the goring fetus. This is why pregnant female patients should not start taking this medicine without their personal physician’s approval. During your intake of this medicine you should use an effective birth control method, in order to avoid an unwanted pregnancy. It is known that Tarka’s main ingredients (verapamil and trandolapril) can and do pass into the patient’s breast milk. This is why nursing mothers should consult with their personal health care specialist to see if a treatment with Tarka is really necessary. If you are nursing an infant, you must not start using Tarka without your physician’s approval.

Ask your personal health care specialist to tell you exactly how and when you should take your doses of Tarka. If you do not understand some of his or her direction you should refer to a nurse or to a pharmacist for additional explanations. Each dose of this product should be accompanied by a full glass of liquid (water, juice, etc).

It is very important that you try to take your pills as a whole (it is forbidden to crush, break or chew them, as they have been especially designed to gradually release their components into your organism). You should store this medicine away from heat and moisture, at the average room temperature. Keep it in a safe place that is unlikely to be reached by either pets or children in order to avoid any unpleasant accidents.

Tarka Dosage

Your personal physician (or any other health care provider who is familiar with your personal and family medical history) is able to prescribe you the proper dose of Tarka that you should use on a regular basis. Avoid disobeying your physician’s instructions.
