The BPH apparition is almost a universal phenomenon in men once they age. At birth, the prostate barely weighs a few grams. At puberty, it is fed by hormones and gets to an adult size – about 20g. The size remains the same for about 25 years, then it grows again. Unlike the normal growth, the BPH progresses by compressing the rest of the normal gland. The tissue is made of large amounts of glandular skin and muscular tissues. The two active ingredients in Jalyn (dutasteride + tamsulosin) are tamsulosin and dutasteride. The tamsulosin is the direct treatment for the prostate. It affects the bladder by relaxing the muscles. This way, the muscular spams lose their intensity and frequency. Both the prostate and the bladder will then function in a more appropriate manner, ensuring a painless urination. On the other hand, the dutasteride is an inhibitor that stops the testosterone from turning into DHT (dihydrotestosterone). The testosterone is what most prostate diseases need in order to “feed”. Even the cancer goes on from here, therefore most prostate cancer drugs are supposed to deal with this hormone first. This medication is still new (2010) and requires a medical prescription. Administration Jalyn (dutasteride + tamsulosin) is given orally, by capsules. It is very important to swallow the capsules whole, no matter how complicated it might seem. Aside from the fact that opening them will release all the drug at the same time, the content is also harmful for the lips, mouth or throat, therefore you will experience a wide variety of adverse reactions. The capsules are taken at the same time everyday to ensure continuity and effectiveness. Get them about half an hour after a meal. Have a glass of water if that helps. The treatment also consists of medical consultations on a regular basis. Your prostate must be analyzed for the doctor to determine whether the treatment is effective or not. Contraindications Jalyn (dutasteride + tamsulosin) is contraindicated in pregnant or nursing women, as well as any patient who might be allergic to at least one of the ingredients. Avoid donating blood for at least half a year after ending this treatment.
