The Ventodisk Diskhaler delivery system for salbutamol is useful for people who can't, or choose not to use, a MDI.
Ventodisk is meant for inhalation and should only be used with a Ventodisk Diskhaler device.
To ensure administration of the proper dosage, your doctor or pharmacist should instruct you on the proper use and care of this delivery system. The Diskhaler should be kept clean and dry at all times.
This is a rescue medication and should be carried with you at all times. Remember that each disk contains only 8 doses, so always carry extra with you. Children using the device should be supervised by an adult who knows how to use the system properly. The Diskhaler should be rinsed on a daily basis according to manufacturer's instructions.
For immediate relief of symptoms, the usual adult dose is 200 to 400 mcg (1 or 2 Ventodisk blisters). In children 6 years or older, the usual dose is 200 mcg (1 Ventodisk blister).
For the prevention of exercise-induced asthma in adults, the usual dose is 200 to 400 mcg (1 or 2 Ventodisk blisters) 15 minutes before exertion. In children over 6 years, the usual dose is 200 mcg (1 Ventodisk blister) 15 minutes before exertion.
For intermittent or long term treatment in adults, the usual dose is 200 to 400 mcg (1 to 2 Ventodisk blisters) 3 to 4 times a day. In children 6 years or older, the usual dose is 200 mcg (1 Ventodisk blister) 3 to 4 times a day.
