Effects - How it works in the body
Potaba belongs to the family of drugs known as an Antifibrotic medicine and commonly used for the treatment or prevention of the symptoms of sunburn and protects your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Potaba works by absorbing ultraviolet (UV) and visible sun light. Potaba is a chemical that belongs to the Vitamin B group. It is used to break down parts of skin that are hard and fibrous. It is not fully understood how Potaba helps break down fibrous tissue. It is thought to increase the amount of oxygen taken up into the tissues. Oxygen is required for a chemical in the body called monoamine oxidase (MAO) to function. MAO acts to break down fibrous tissue. By increasing the levels of oxygen in the skin, Potaba is thought to increase the activity of MAO on hard and fibrous tissue. Potaba has been used for treating disorders of excessive scar-like tissue formation (fibrosis) such as Peyronie's disease.
