药理作用
本品为一种主要作用于副交感神经系统的药物。具有很强的平滑肌解痉作用，较强的镇痛作用，较弱的抗胆碱能作用及局部麻醉作用。其解痉作用比阿托品强4～10倍，而抗胆碱作用仅为其五分之一。
药动学
口服吸收迅速而完全。给药后30min起效，血药浓度达峰时间小于1h，消除半减期约2.3h。本品主要由肝脏代谢后经尿排出，在体内几乎无蓄积。
适应症
用于治疗尿急、尿频、尿失禁、夜间遗尿等疾病。对膀胱炎、尿道炎及复发性的尿道感染所引起的尿频症状最为适合。对治疗小儿遗尿也有较好的疗效。
用法用量
口服，成人每次5mg，每日2～3次。儿童每次2.5～5mg，每日2次。或遵医嘱！
禁用/慎用
青光眼、幽门及十二指肠阻塞、阻塞性小肠损害或绞痛、胃肠道出血及阻塞性的尿道疾患禁用，老年患者、肝肾功能不全者及反流性食管炎引起的食管裂空疝者镇用。
不良反应
服药后有口干现象，继续服用数日后口干自然消失。一般不良反应为视力模糊、出汗减少、乏力、头晕及胃肠道反应，但多数能耐受。

DITROPAN XL (OXYBUTYNIN) is an antispasmodic anticholinergic agent used to treat overactive bladder with symptoms of urinary incontinence, urgency, and frequency.
Understanding Bladder Control Problems:
Urine -- the fluid that results when the kidneys filter the blood -- is stored in the bladder. Nerves located in the bladder tell your brain when the bladder is full. This results in a sensation that the bladder is full, causing the "urge to go." When you get to the bathroom, your brain signals muscles that surround the bladder opening, called sphincter muscles, and tells them to relax. When these muscles relax, the brain signals the muscle that lines the bladder, called the detrusor muscle, to contract and discharge the urine. This permits urine to flow. An overactive bladder is a medical condition with symptoms of sudden, powerful urges to go to the bathroom, caused by involuntary muscle spasms in the bladder. It does not have to be considered normal or natural at any age, and it can be treated.
You may be experiencing symptoms of overactive bladder if: You urinate eight or more times in a 24-hour period(Frequency), you get up two or more times a night to urinate (Nighttime Frequency or Nocturia), you may get sudden urges to urinate immediately (Urgency), you may experience an urgent need to urinate followed by leakage or wetting incidents (Urge Incontinence). DITROPAN XL (OXYBUTYNIN) helps control the involuntary spasms of the bladder muscles, which lead to the symptoms of overactive bladder, making the urge to go less intense and less often. Many people experience relief in as little as two weeks after taking DITROPAN XL (OXYBUTYNIN). Keep in mind, however, that people respond differently to medications, and some may require a longer time frame before experiencing symptom relief.
DITROPAN XL (OXYBUTYNIN) extended-release tablets incorporate the patented OROS® technology, which permits the controlled release of medication over a 24-hour period. This means that you don't have to worry about taking multiple doses of DITROPAN XL (OXYBUTYNIN) throughout the day. Just one DITROPAN XL (OXYBUTYNIN) tablet releases medication into your system continuously for relief that lasts up to 24 hours. Many patients begin to experience symptom relief in as little as two weeks.
Through its unique time-release formula, DITROPAN XL (OXYBUTYNIN): Eliminates peaks and valleys of drug concentrations you may experience with other medications, provides continuous relief, day and night. One daily dose of DITROPAN XL (OXYBUTYNIN) may be all you need to stop worrying about your bladder problems all the time. Ditropan XL Side Effects:
DITROPAN XL side effects that may occur while taking this medicine include dry mouth, blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, or constipation. If DITROPAN XL side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience DITROPAN XL side effects like hallucinations. If you notice other DITROPAN XL side effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Follow the directions for using DITROPAN XL provided by your doctor. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. STORE DITROPAN XL at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C)in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF DITROPAN XL, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
