施维雅公司宣布，培哚普利（精氨酸盐）与氨氯地平的复方制剂COVERAM治疗高血压和稳定性冠心病的适应证在欧洲25个国家已获批准，可作为正在应用培哚普利和氨氯地平治疗患者（在相同剂量下）的替代治疗。　　

ASCOT研究表明，氨氯地平与培哚普利的联合治疗方案显著优于β-阻滞剂与噻嗪类利尿剂联合的传统治疗方案，该研究曾被数据安全监控委员会建议提前终止。研究结果表明，与阿替洛尔±苄氟噻嗪联合治疗方案相比，氨氯地平±培哚普利联合治疗方案可显著降低各种原因引起的死亡风险11%、降低心血管死亡风险24%、降低卒中风险23%、降低冠心病事件风险13%及新发糖尿病风险30%。ASCOT研究结果显示成千上万的患者可能从新的治疗方案中获益。基于这项研究，施维雅公司决定开发培哚普利与氨氯地平固定剂量复方制剂以最大限度满足高血压治疗的需求。 　　

在ASCOT研究结束后, ASCOT的主要研究者，英国伦敦帝国学院国际循环健康中心的临床药理学及治疗学教授Peter Sever评论道：“高血压是一个主要的健康问题，ASCOT研究采用了一种简单有效的联合治疗方案，结果表明患者不仅血压得到了较好的控制，同时还降低了卒中、心脏病发作及其他相关疾病如糖尿病的风险，这对患者及医生来说是一个很好的消息”。　　

在ASCOT研究中，15%的高血压患者仅应用氨氯地平就可控制血压。考虑到氨氯地平也常用于稳定性冠心病患者以减少心绞痛的发生，引发了人们研究对使用氨氯地平的患者联合培哚普利以改善血压控制及降低心血管事件的兴趣。培哚普利降低心血管事件已有较多的证据。EUROPA研究对12000多例患稳定性冠心病患者的研究结果显示，培哚普利可显著降低20%的心血管死亡、非致死性心肌梗死及心脏骤停复苏的联合终点；PROGRESS研究对6000例卒中后患者进行研究，结果显示以培哚普利为基础治疗的患者中，有1/10的患者在4年的治疗时间内未发生死亡、心肌梗死或再卒中。　　

COVERAM是首个具有高血压和稳定性冠心病适应证的固定剂量复方药，可作为正在应用培哚普利和氨氯地平治疗患者（在相同剂量下）的替代治疗。COVERAM将首先在欧洲上市，有4种不同的剂量可供选择—COVERAM 5/5：培哚普利精氨酸5mg/氨氯地平5mg；COVERAM 10/5：培哚普利精氨酸10mg/氨氯地平5mg；COVERAM 5/10：培哚普利精氨酸5mg/氨氯地平10mg；COVERAM 10/10：培哚普利精氨酸10mg/氨氯地平10mg。

Coveram Information
Coveram is used for HBP or High Blood Pressure. You are considered to have high blood pressure when your pressure goes up and stays up and there are no known symptoms of HBP. Many people who do not have their blood pressure checked on a regular basis may never know if they have HBP until it is too late. If an individual has HBP and it goes untreated it can lead to heart disease, stroke and kidney failure. It is important to have your BP checked on a regular basis. This medication may also be prescribed to individuals with coronary heart disease.
Coveram Indications
Coveram is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. This medication works by widening the blood vessels, which will reduce the pressure enabling the heart the ability to pump blood throughout the body.
Coveram Warnings
Individuals who are allergic to coveram or the ingredients in coveram should not take this medication. If you are pregnant or breast feeding do not use this medication. Do not use this medication if you have any kidney problems or if you have unstable angina. Do not use if you have had a heart failure within a month after a heart attack. Coveram should not be used if the medication is out of date.
Coveram Intake Guidelines
Take this medication as directed by your physician. This medication must be swallowed whole with a full 8 ounce glass of water and try to take this medicine at the same time every day for best results.
Coveram Dosage
The physician will decide on the amount of dosage needed, the recommended dosage amount is one tablet per day.
Coveram Overdose
Seek emergency care immediately if you suspect an overdose.
Coveram Missed Dose
Never take two doses at the same time, if you miss one dose, skip it and wait until your next scheduled dose.
Coveram Side Effects
Inform your physician if you feel bad after starting Coveram. All medications have side effects; the side effects for Coveram are as follows:

Cough
Vertigo
Vision problems
Headache
Tinnitus
Dizzy
Lethargic, sleepy or a tired feeling all the time
Stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea
Muscle cramps
Rash, itching and swelling in hands, ankles, and feet
Flushed skin
Loss of taste
Indigestion
Shortness of breath
Trouble breathing
Irregular heartbeat, tightness in your chest
These side effects may not bother every individual taking this medication. If you experience the following side effects contact your doctor or seek medical care immediately:

Throat, tongue, mouth and face swelling
Fast, irregular heartbeat
Blisters
These are very rare but may occur in some individuals.

Coveram Drug Reactions
There are certain medications that may interact with Coveram:

Beta-blockers or alpha-blockers
Tetracycline antibiotics
NSAIDS medications which are used to treat swelling and inflammation
Lithium medications
Water tablets
Diabetic medication
Baclofen and dantrolene
Epilepsy medication
Cancer medication
Fungal medications
